Sanctification is a Marathon

What comes to your mind when you think of sanctification? The reality is: sanctification takes time. As Dan Horn describes it in this video, it is a marathon. It is a long road that you gradually walk down. God puts us in various circumstances to further our sanctification. For example, when someone gets married, it furthers their sanctification, and even more so when you have a child. God puts us in various trials, sometimes the result of sin and sometimes not, but all the trials are meant to perfect our faith.

When we look at our own lives and the lives of others, we need to remember that sanctification takes time. God opens the eyes of some to a particular act of sin early on, and there are others whose eyes are not open till years down the road. It isn’t a short sprint to perfection, but it is a step-by-step journey until we are glorified and in the presence of God for all eternity.
