A caveat regarding this statement: "The church and the family are the two institutions that God has created for the spread of His gospel of grace and the discipleship of His people." We would maintain that the church is the institution uniquely tasked with proclaiming the gospel and making Christian disciples, and that Christians are responsible to further this task within the jurisdiction of the home as the outworking of their individual Christian professions. God created the home prior to the fall into sin, and thus it is not an inherently redemptive institution. Certainly Christian husbands/fathers and wives/mothers are responsible to evangelize and disciple in and through the context of the household, but the church is the one inherently redemptive institution in this world. Thankfully, this seems implicit throughout the rest of the declaration.
