How do modern ideologies that focus on the creature rather than the creator detract from the glory of God?
In this video, Tom Ascol addresses the issue of modern ideologies that have infiltrated the Church and permeated our culture. These ideologies, stemming from the mixture of neo-Marxist and post-modern ideas, include critical theory, critical-race theory, and feminism. Ascol argues that these ideologies shift the focus from God and His glory to the creature, diverting attention away from the Creator Himself. He highlights the danger of sin inverting what is right, good, and true, as warned by the Apostle Paul in Romans 1. Rather than fixing our hearts and minds upon the Creator, we are tempted to fixate on what is created.
As followers of God, Ascol emphasizes the importance of standing firmly against these godless ideologies that seek to erode the foundations of our faith and the Church of Jesus Christ. He encourages calling out and renouncing these ideologies, as they are incompatible with the gospel. As believers, our faith is centered on Christ, who alone can bring true justice, mercy, and love. Any attempt to attain these outside of Christ is considered an enemy of Christ.
Psalm 115:1 (NKJV) -- "Not unto us, O Lord, not unto us, but to Your name give glory, because of Your mercy, because of Your truth."
Well, certainly these more modern ideologies that have crept into the church and have just permeated our culture detract from God's glory. I'm talking about these ideologies that come from the neo-Marxist and post-modern mix of critical theory, critical race theory, queer theory, feminism, all of these things that call attention to the creature rather than the creator. Of course that's what the Apostle Paul warns us of specifically in Romans chapter 1, that we are always in danger because of sin of inverting what is right good and true and fixing our hearts our affections our minds upon what is created rather than the one who created them. And so I believe that we as God's people must stand with every ounce of strength that He gives us to renounce these godless ideologies that are seeking to erode the very foundations of our faith, the foundations of the church of Jesus Christ. We need to be willing to call them out to acknowledge that these ideologies are incompatible with the gospel of the Lord Jesus.
God sent his son into the world to save sinners and it is only through faith in Jesus Christ that anyone can be reconciled to God. It is only in Christ that we will ever find true justice, true mercy, true love, and anything that comes trying to peddle ways of attaining justice, love, and mercy outside of Christ is an enemy of Christ.
