What should the righteous do when the foundations are destroyed?
In his sermon, Conrad Mbewe explains that the crumbling of foundations began with the fall of man in Genesis 3. Sin tainted human nature, altering the course of humanity. Yet, the answer is found in Jesus Christ, the seed of the woman, as promised by God. This promise was not only a solution but a fulfillment in Christ, urging the righteous to recognize the redemption offered through Him.
Mbewe emphasizes that this gospel of redemption must permeate every aspect of life. It should echo in our homes, churches, and throughout the world. It is God's tool to bring people to repentance and transform lives from within. Believers are called to be active, not retreating in despair about the broken foundations, but rather going forth to share the gospel, righting wrongs, and challenging lives of sin. Even if the golden age remains unseen, believers fulfill Christ's mission by actively building His kingdom.
Matthew 5:14-16 (NKJV): "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven."
The Bible's answer, first of all, is that the foundations were destroyed in Genesis 3. That's where sin devastated human nature. And to say what does the righteous do, the answer is in the person of our Lord Jesus Christ. The prototype being the seed of the woman that is spoken about by God as the promise of the first promise of the Messiah. And therefore we need to realize that what the righteous need to do is to see the redemption that God has not only promised but fulfilled in the person of our Lord Jesus Christ and to ensure that that gospel goes forth.
It goes forth in our homes, it goes forth in the church, It goes forth in the world. It's God's instrument by which men and women are not only brought to repentance and faith in Christ, but men and women are transformed from the inside out. And having thus been transformed, they get out there in order to transform God's world as salt and light. So We don't rush to go and hide because the foundations have been destroyed. In fact, we ensure that we get out there with the gospel in order to ensure that wrong is righted, that which is a life of sin is challenged afresh, where individuals are brought to Christ.
And yeah, we may not see the golden age, but the point is we will be doing what Christ has wanted us to do to get busy with the building of his kingdom.
