Pooyan Mershahi explains in this video that Christ is the good Shepherd who laid His life down for the sheep so that they might receive eternal life. He was the one who faced so much on our behalf so that we might be set free and experience the joy of salvation and eternal life.
Romans 5:8-9 (NKJV) - "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him."
Christ is the Good Shepherd and as the Good Shepherd, He laid His life down for the sheep. He laid His life down for the sheep so that his sheep might be saved, his people might receive eternal life. So the death of the Good Shepherd is the life of the sheep. He was bound, beaten, so that we might be set free and healed. He was the one who was nailed upon the cross so that we might not face God's judgment and receive any kind of pain in our souls in eternity.
He was the one who was accursed by God so that we might be released from the curses and the condemnation of the law. He was the one who faced so much blasphemies and torments, so that His people might be set free into happiness and blessedness and joy of salvation and eternal life. And so He remains our wonderful and our Good Shepherd of our souls. And He is now alive forevermore, leading His people, leading His sheep, guiding them, protecting them, even though they are still naive, even though they still are dependent upon Him, even though they may be stubborn still, even though they may refuse to follow at times, Yet He comes after us. He saves every one of them.
Not one of His sheep is lost with all their weaknesses. He saves them and keeps them and protects them and gives them eternal life.
