How important is grace within the home?

Sam Waldron explains in this video that grace must be something that is embraced within the family. It should be something that is prioritized within the home. We should be ready to forgive many sins..

A husband, wife, and children each need to forgive each other when they are wronged just as they were forgiven.

Ephesians 2:8-9 (NKJV) - "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it isthe gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast."

When I think of the centrality of the word of God in family life, I think of the necessity of the word of God giving us an objective structure and foundation for family life. There's a lot of, and appropriate emphasis on the importance of grace in family life, giving grace to one another, and I believe in that. We have to stand ready to overlook many faults and Stand ready both in our spouses and our children and we have to stand ready to all forgive many sins in our spouses and our children, but The first thing I think of is sometimes grace in the present day evangelical culture is kind of thought of as in contrast to the objective structures of the Word of God. In contrast to insisting on male headship, in contrast to insisting on feminine subordination in the home. In contrast to the basic mandates and responsibilities that are found in marriage.

And grace was never intended to be set in contrast to those kind of things. It was intended to give us the power of grace, motivation, strength to fulfill the obligations that are mandated in the objective structures and principles of the Word of God.
