What should a father do if he feels inadequate to lead family worship with his family?

Calvin Beisner explains in this video that God uses His Word to minister to individuals. He shares that in his family, they would read through different books of the Bible. They would focus on the Word itself.

He didn't feel any pressure to try to explain the text every time. Even if you have studied the text over and over again, it is not always easy to explain it. We are called to be faithful and diligent to spend time reading the Word of God to our families. God can work through His very Word.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NKJV) - "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work."

I'm just thoroughly convinced that God uses his word. And so that was always our focus in family worship. The Word as God's self-revelation, prompting response by us, a response perhaps of conviction of sin, or response of thanksgiving, response of praise, whatever it was, we let that be determined by the content of the Word and we would read consecutively through books of the Bible. Did that over and over again. Most of the time we would always include a psalm or a chapter of the Proverbs or part of the Proverbs.

But we would just simply focus on the word itself. I didn't feel any obligation to try to explain the text every time. If I had felt that, I would probably have been intimidated from trying, because even if you have studied the text over and over again, when you're on the spot, especially with little children, it's not always easy to explain. And I just believe that God works through his very word. So that's what we did.
