Joel Beeke explains in this video that the most important thing to do when raising children is family worship. Fathers should talk with their children about the things of God, read Scripture, and pray with their children. Through these times of Bible reading, study, and prayer, families can discuss a multitude of subjects and glimpse what God's perspective is on each.

Deuteronomy 28:1-2 (NKJV) - "Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the Lord your God will set you high above all nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God."

To me, the most important thing in child rearing is family worship. I thought it was done and The thought came into my mind.

What would I talk about to my children if I had one more chance to speak with them? It's Not because I was such a good dad or because I spent so much time with them, but it's because of family worship that I couldn't think of anything that I needed to talk to them about that I hadn't already talked about, because the Bible talks about every subject under the sun. And so we do that in family worship. So family worship is very, very important. In fact, I put that at the head of the list.
