Dr. Joel Beeke explains in this video that parents should demonstrate to their children how excited they are about the things of God. They should treat Sundays as a special day, a day to be set apart. Your children ought to know that you find your greatest joy and purpose in worshipping God.

Show with your lifestyle and also with periodic conversation how exciting God is to you in Jesus Christ and that the world is boring by comparison. I always try to tell my children, oh the Lord's Day is the best day of the week, we get to go up and worship God, isn't that incredible? The living God of the universe is going to speak to us today. I just treat Sunday as a special day and my wife does too. She used to bake these nice cinnamon rolls for Sunday morning breakfast, no other day of the week.

And I get them up, I knock on their door and say, it's the Lord's day today, we get to go worship God. Good morning. Now they didn't always appreciate that at the time, but they sense my excitement. So if children know that you and mom find life's greatest joy, life's greatest fulfillment, life's greatest purpose in worshiping the triune God and you love the Lord's day, you love the spiritual disciplines, that's important. That child may still be rebellious, but that child cannot deny, mom and dad have something I don't have.

It gives them a deeper fulfillment than I have. And that may come back to them a year down the road, two years down the road, and they may not only stamp out a rebellion, but God may use your walk of life for their conversion. You
