Where are you in the story of the Biblical theology of the family? There is nothing more invigorating and comforting than to know that His people are being carried on eagles' wings. His promises will not fail. He will keep His “everlasting covenant,” he will destroy the works of the Devil. And who are you in this story? Are you the one whom God conspired to save before the foundation of the world? Are you the one chosen before the foundation of the world? Are the one who has the faith of Abraham.

Well, here we are. We've made this journey through this biblical theology of the family. The Apostle Paul said that he did not hesitate to teach the whole counsel of God, we've at least done a flyover of that. You've seen these pictures of the glory of God from eternity past all the way through human history and then into heaven. And I would just like to suggest to all of the families and the individuals here, teach your children the whole counsel of God.

Teach them from Genesis to Revelation. Read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, help them to see the connections. You know I wrote a book called Journey Through the Bible just to help families read through the Bible and to understand it and to understand what God is doing. Here's what God is doing, he's keeping an everlasting covenant, he carries his people on eagles wings. You know when you were young did you ever look up in the sky and see an eagle and say wouldn't it be nice, wouldn't it be fun to be on the wings of that eagle?

Well this is what God does. He puts you on his wings and he carries you. I began this conference quoting Deuteronomy 7, 9. I hope that you saw how this was pictured all throughout this journey. Therefore, know that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments.

The Lord keeps His commandments. The Lord has made an everlasting covenant. And while the devil is at war with the family, while The dragon is at war with the seed of the woman. God has promised that he would destroy the works of the devil, and we can have that confidence. And I asked all of us to meditate on this question.

Who are you in the history of redemption? Where are you along the timeline? Plot your position in the biblical theology of the family from Genesis to Revelation. And I, you know, who are you in terms of eternity past? Are you the one that God the Father and God the Son conspired to save before the foundation of the world are you a fulfillment of the promises that God made to his son that he would give him a bride and he would protect him all the way along.

Are you in the time of creation? Are you one that God created? That ought to be so obvious. God created man as male and female. Are you the one who fell in Adam are you the one who deserved to die are you the one like Job who's been appointed to be a priest in your home, to exercise the means of grace in your home.

You know, are you the one who God made a promise of blessing, the promise of Abraham? Are you the one for whom God provided a lamb as a sacrifice for your sin are you the one who was elected like Abraham was elected and given and given the gift of faith do you have faith do you believe like Abraham believed are you the one who has been given laws of love like the laws that Moses gave in the mosaic period Are you the one in the era of Joshua and the judges living in Gibeon, are you the one who's been placed in a wicked and perverse generation like the days of judges and the defiling culture that exists there, culture in absolute free fall, where every man does whatever's right in his own eyes. Are you the broken from that culture? Are you the broken one that God's mercy has fallen upon God did preserve his covenant during the days of the judges and he is doing it today I loved what Kevin Swanson said he's if I can quote him correctly, he said, if you wanna change your nation, your culture, go to church. That was great advice.

Go to church and be an enclave of faithfulness, love for God, obedience to God, build a little culture in your local church. You can't change everything that's happening in the world, but you know what you can do? You can have a little family where the word of God is honored, where holiness is loved. You can go to a church and worship God there and be part of actually creating a little kingdom of heaven in your church. You can do that.

You know, or are you the one who has been sent a king, you know, reflecting back in the era of the kings. Do you have the sure mercies of David? Do you see the impact of your sin, how sin is so harmful? What happens in a family, just like what happened in David's family, is massively influential in everything. Are you the one who has been given the charge to gather God's family by fulfilling the Great Commission?

Are you one who's living in the time of the gospels where the children are loved and cherished, where the parents are comforted and the children have demons cast out of them. Are you one of those children? Maybe you're in need of that. Maybe you were a child like that. Where are you?

Plot your location in this biblical theology of the family. Have you taken up the task of the great commission? Are you helping God to assemble his eternal family? Whether you're a little boy or a girl or an unmarried person or an old man or an old woman? Are you continuing to bring the harvest, bringing God, a family, bringing Him what He desires, godly seed?

Are you the one who believes that you will see the beauties of the Lord in the new heavens and the new earth? Do you see the picture? Do you see this beautiful picture book of heaven that we just heard about? We were told it's a children's picture book where the Lord provides the very best for the last. When he was preaching, I couldn't help with the wedding, to think about the wedding of Cana, where it is said that he saves the best wine for the last.

That's the Lord Jesus Christ. Where are you? Where are you in this trend line? You know God, I know you noticed it, asks much of families. And the question is, is it worth it?

Is it worth the trouble? Is it worth the labors? You know, you've got six children under eight years old. Is it worth the fatigue? Is it worth the distraction and the trouble and the messes and the sin coming up in your children and in you.

Sinners cause sinners to sin and that's a real problem. But is it worth it? Is it worth it to endure the troubles of sin in your family and to do what you ought to do in responding to that to bring children up in the training and the admonition of the Lord you know are you that broken family you think you're so broken There is no family that ever existed that is too broken for a covenant of God. None. And I hope you've just seen how God continues his covenant mercies through almost unspeakable brokenness and defilement that takes place.

God is so kind. He will preserve his people. He will continue the saving grace of his Messiah and He will bring His family. They will be the most cared for, they will be the most happy, they will be an everlasting family. That's the theology of the family.

Is it worth it? When you look back on your life, would you say it was worth it? It was worth it to obey God, it was worth it to endure the troubles and the sorrows. Is it worth it? Are your children worth it?

Is your church worth it? Is the kingdom of heaven worth it? Absolutely it is. And so as we come to the end of our time together, I want you to be the person who's saying, yes, it is worth it. It is so worth it.

The kingdom of heaven is at hand. God is so good. He is such a kind father. The Lord Jesus Christ is such a good shepherd. The Holy Spirit is such a beautifying spirit.

Is that where you're at? In the theology of the family? Well, I pray That's where you are. Let's pray. Oh Lord, We are so grateful that you reached down into the most broken of broken families, broken of broken hearts, broken of broken worlds.

And you're the great healer. Oh, Lord Jesus Christ, we are so thankful that you are the healer, that you're the one who restores. Lord, I pray that you would bring a great and mighty work of restoration among the people that are in this room, that you would come and pour your healing salve out upon all of these families. All of us are broken somewhere and we need you. So I pray, Lord, that you would mobilize these families for the power of the gospel.

I pray that you would find them in holy churches, that you would use them to magnify your glory in your church, which will never end. Amen.
