Joel Beeke explains in this video that the Bible is clear that man is to be fruitful and multiply. It is repeated to Noah, Abraham, and other patriarchs. This command still stands today. Accordingly, children are not to be viewed as an obstacle or detriment. Rather, they should be seen as a gift from God. Ultimately, God is to be the lord of your entire life, including the size of your family.

Psalm 127:3 (NKJV) - "Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb is a reward."

The Bible is pretty clear already in Genesis 1, 28 that man is to be fruitful and to multiply and replenish the earth. And that command is repeated to Noah post-fall and to Abraham and some of the other patriarchs as well. And so that command still stands today, which means that children are not to be viewed as an obstacle or as a detriment or as something that gets in the way of the rest of my life and all my career desires and my desire to live selfishly. But children are a gift of God. And Psalm 127 and 128 says they're the fruit of God's reward.

The fruit of the womb is his reward. And it says, blessed in Psalm 128, six is the man who sees his children's children and peace upon Israel. So really the Bible is stressing, let the Lord be the Lord of every area of your life, also of your family size.
