Clarence Simmons explains in this video, your children need to see the significance of what they are doing and why you tell them to do (or not do) specific things. It is for God's glory. It's because God commands parents to raise their children up according to what He has said in Scripture.
Proverbs 22:6 (NKJV) - "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it."
We can put it in their ears, but only God can put it in their hearts. But that's our duty to mold our children. But Ephesians warns us to not do it as well as Colossians not to do it, but we exasperate them. We're frustrated, you know, we can get it, you better do this, or we can just hold up that manly voice, you're gonna do this or else. And so we have threatens, you know, we do all these threatenings and so forth and so on.
And I find, you know, you can get a child scared and that's about it. Why they're not seeing the significance of why they need to be doing what they need to be doing is for God's glory. Not simply just to make us look good as parents when we go in the Sam's, you know, so, or places like that, you know, that public, you know, veneer we try to have because we want people to think we're just wonderful parents. No, we need to bring our children out for the glory of God and we teach them, You do this right here because God said so. You don't do this right here because God said so.
And I'm telling you what God said.
