Kirk Smith in this video answers the question, "What do you do with older daughters in your house?" He shares that he has many older daughters in his home. Girls should have strict priorities in their lives. There are always ways to serve their families and the local church. In all work, there is profit.

Isaiah 32:9 (NKJV) - "Rise up, you women who are at ease, hear my voice; You complacent daughters, give ear to my speech."

I'd often been asked, what do you do with older daughters in the house? We have six daughters, four of which are older. And that's really a challenge because it's easy to give just cute scriptural answers that just sound perfect. But in the world that we live in it's a little bit more challenging than that sometimes. I think it's very important for our girls to have strict priorities with their own lives.

They'll know that the family this becomes first, what happens inside the walls. I've seen some girls who are quicker to go outside and work for somebody else when they can be used inside their own home. Likewise with the church, there's always ministry to be done at a church, especially when there's young couples. Our daughters have done free babysitting over the years numerous times. So we need to teach our kids and our daughters specifically to look at what's within their circle of influence.

What can they do right now before going out too far? Now I'm not against a daughter being educated, but we have to understand that schooling is one thing, but a good education is something else. And it would behoove us to teach our daughters that in all work there is profit. I don't want my daughters just sitting around, hanging around, doing nothing, sleeping in, because that will not prepare for them their life's work as mother. My mom's gone very little sleep.

My mother sacrificed tremendously and our daughters see that with their mother. So I think it's important for us during these intermediate years between getting out of school and before God brings the men along for our daughters to be very intentional about being a keeper at the home. Doesn't mean they can be like the Proverbs 31 woman who had outside interests she was very specific about with economic gain but again it all went back to the home.
