Gary Powers explains that your daughters should continue to be busy even while they remain in the home. They should continue to grow their minds. They ought to be well educated and continue to serve the local church and their home. He shares how he and his wife have brought their daughters into their family business.
Psalms 144:12 (NKJV) - "That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; That our daughters may be as pillars, Sculptured in palace style."
They need to be busy. They need to not, not busybodies. They need to be busy. They need to stay busy. They need to not just sit around waiting for a suitor to come along.
I think they need to continue to be educated. They need to grow their minds if they're going to equip the next generation. I think that they need to be sharp. They need to be astute. They need to be well educated.
And I think that they should continue to serve the local church. They can continue to serve in their home, serve alongside of their moms, serve their fathers. If there's family business, this is one of the things we've done is we've tried to bring our girls into the family businesses. Some have served as my administrative assistants. Some have, we've tried to put in roles where we see a good fit, a good gifting.
We have one of my co-elders, I think. This is really a great example of a daughter at home. She's an older daughter, but she became a certified piano teacher. She teaches piano. She has students.
She lives in her father's home and yet she has a business that she's able to teach piano to many of the children in our church. I think it's such a great setup that really honors the Lord, honors her father, and she's serving the local church and she's doing it in a way that I think glorifies God. Whatever it is with our children, we can find creative ways of doing that where fathers can protect their daughters and yet they're not just sitting around and doing nothing in a sense wasting their life. And they should continue to pursue Christ with a fervency. They should grow in grace and the knowledge of Him, studying His word, praying, and serving wherever opportunities present themselves.
