Kirk Smith address the question of what happened with Adam and Eve's family in this video. They were self-focused and thought that they could make their own decisions. Sin puts self on the throne instead of God. May we have enough wisdom to trust God's ways for they work every single time.

Proverbs 14:12 (NKJV) - "There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death."

What went wrong with Adam and Eve's family? They were in the garden, they were in the paradise, they had everything they ever could want. Yet, of course, Eve ate from the fruit of the tree and gave it to Adam, he ate also. Basically what happened is they were self-focused. They thought they could make their own decisions.

They were wanting to be like God to do what they thought was right. And that's just the age-old saga of what sin does. Sin puts self on the throne instead of God's Word that we know what's best. We know what we're doing even though Proverbs clearly says of the way that seems right to a man but the end thereof is death. And so we are given the Word of God.

Just like Adam and Eve walked with God in the cool of the evening, we have the living Word of God through Jesus Christ. We can learn His personality, we can learn His principles and His precepts, His priorities in not just generic areas of life, but in how to raise our kids, how to treat our spouse, how to work at our work, how to handle our finances. And so we don't have to reinvent the wheel. We just need to go to God's word. Adam and Eve thought they knew what was right.

They wanted to be like gods, and in doing so, they fell miserably. May we have enough wisdom to trust God's ways that they work every time.
