Husbands and fathers should be concerned about the spiritual wellbeing of their home. They should be asking how they can pray for their wives and their children, be leading family worship, and be continually speaking of the things of God.

Psalm 127:3 (NKJV) - "Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb is a reward."

What family worship should be is the father who has a heart for instructing his children in the teaching of the Word of God as he's required to do in Ephesians 6.4, has a heart for nurturing his wife on the water of the Word, as Ephesians 5 says he should do, is taking stated times to sit down and share that Word with his family, perhaps sing at the same time, rich scriptural songs, and then make sure that he takes the opportunity to intercede on behalf of his family. So he asks his children, how can I pray for you? So he asks his wife, how can I pray for you? Because these are crucial issues in the life of the home. And out of that then is going to flow.

Hopefully there will be the ripple effect from family worship of conversations about the Lord, spiritual conversations with his children and his wife that happen all the time, as Deuteronomy 6 says, happen all the time as he's walking the way, as he's sitting in this house and all of those other times. But it's a way of, in a formal and stated way, fulfilling the commands of Ephesians 5 and Ephesians 6.
