Carlton McLeod explains in this video that many husbands are hesitant to correct their wives. Sometimes, this means being patient with their wives in regards to an issue or lovingly and gently talking to them about a matter. Each situation will vary but what is most important is that a husband love his wife as Christ loved the Church.

1 Peter 3:7 (NKJV) - "Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered."

The culture in which we live, there's this tentativeness on the part of a lot of men to address their wives in areas of correction. And if it's not done lovingly and tenderly and godly, It can not only go over pretty poorly in the household, but be perceived outside the household as something that it wasn't meant to be. So I would encourage that husband to do what the scriptures tell him to do, to love her as Christ loves the church. And sometimes, depending on the circumstances, that means talking to her directly in areas of correction and guidance and sometimes it just means being patient and letting her work through what she's working through and not necessarily push the issue. It's very situationally dependent on which of the verses that we're applying and leaning towards.

If our heart's broken because of something that's happened in the past or something that's happened to one of the children, my advice would be to just love on her and walk her through it and let her know you're there. If she's angry at him and making a mess of the house and screaming at the children, then we may need to get some pastoral help to walk through that, but he's gonna have to stand up and be a little stronger and take the risk of being misunderstood in his household.
