What is the value of plague, sickness, death, and suffering? In this video, Scott Brown discusses several benefits that we can learn even during times of hardship. Let's talk about the positive value of a plague, or in our situation, COVID-19. We already know that God causes all things to work together for good, for the called. What a blessing it is to know that. But what is the specific value of plague, sickness, death, and suffering? I want to take you to William Perkins, the English Puritan, who gives us several beneficial results of all these things.

And I'm just gonna run through them as a list. He says, let us then bear them, they will have an end. Psalm 37 verse 37. Next, joy will follow. Psalm 126, 5.

Next, they show us our weakness. Isaiah 38, 10. Next, they move us to pray, Hosea 5 15. Next, They show that we are in the pathway to heaven. Luke 24, 26.

Next, they make us condemn this present world. Ecclesiastes 1, verse 2. Next, by them we learn to repent of past sin. 2 Samuel 24 17. Next, they teach us to take heed of sin present and to foresee sin to come." Genesis 39 verse 9.

Next, by them we receive God's Spirit. Acts 2 verse 2. Next, we become like Christ. Next, we become like Christ, Philippians 3 10. Next, we are acquainted with God's power, Daniel 3 17.

Next, we have joy and deliverance, Exodus 15 11, and we know the benefit of prosperity. We are made hardy to suffer and have cause to practice many excellent virtues, 1 Peter 1, 6 through 7. Next, they cause us to seek out God's promise, the promise to seek faith, faith to seek prayer, and prayer to find God. Seek and you shall find. Matthew 7 verse 7.

Next, when you call he will answer. Job 21 27. Next, wait and He will come. Habakkuk, two, three. Well, those are the benefits of suffering that William Perkins lists.
