What is something that we should realize about family worship?

Rob Ventura explains in this video that we see that fathers and mothers are to gather around the Word of God. It is a great privilege to read Scripture, to pray, and to worship God.

It is something that we must remember when we are leading family worship. Having the ability to freely lead our families in the study of God's Word and conducting times of prayer as a family isn't something that all families are able to do across the world.

1 Peter 4:12-14 (NKJV) - "Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy. If you are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are you, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. On their part He is blasphemed, but on your part He is glorified."

But as families, heads of homes, fathers and mothers, we are to gather around the things of Christ. Think about God's word to Abraham. God says to Abraham there in the book of Genesis, I know Abraham that he will command his children after me. And, of course, Joshua says, he's an older man at that point, but he says, as for me and my household, we will, there's no negotiation here, We will serve, we will worship the Lord. So as Christians it's a great privilege to have family worship, to have a time we can crack open the scriptures, we can sing God's praise, we can pray to his great name, and we could consider the things of Christ together.

Again, this is a great privilege for heads of households to lead in, and it's wonderful as our children gather together. We have what the Puritans would call the church in our homes, and we come to worship this great God together.
