How often should families spend time in God's Word?

Matt Holst explains in this video that family worship is vital to family worship. In Israel, there appears to be a pattern or morning and evening worship. In his home, they try to do this as well. His wife studies Scripture with the children in the morning and he does the same in the evening.

It is a great blessing to a family. We are called to do this individually, in the family, and in the church.

Psalm 92:1-2 (NKJV) - "It is good to give thanks to the Lord, and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High; to declare Your lovingkindness in the morning, and Your faithfulness every night."

Yeah, I think family worship is vital. You study the ancient Israelites and there appears to have been a practice of morning and evening worship, not just on their Sabbath, but every day of the week. In our home, we try and observe that practice. My wife does a worship time with the children in the morning. I lead worship in the evening, and I think that's a great blessing to the children.

We're called to worship the Lord as individuals, we're called to worship the Lord as families, we're called to worship the Lord as his people corporately. And so If we leave any one of those three elements out, we are going to, in one way or another, reveal to ourselves and to our children and then also to the world that worship is just not the priority that it ought to be. And if it's not a priority for those who claim to be worshippers, then why would anyone in the world ever come to be a worshipper as well if it's just not that big a deal?
