What happens when a Christian family lives their life according to what Scripture says?
Carlton McLeod explains in this video that families need to decide to base how they live their lives on what Scripture says and not what modern culture promotes. Scripture remains true throughout all of time - it is something that we can wholeheartedly trust and believe in.
Though this choice may be unpopular in the eyes of the world, it can be a way to witness to unbelievers. Regardless of whether we can see it, living a life that is based on Scripture is a witness and an example to the world.
Isaiah 40:8 (NKJV) - "The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever."
I've seen lots of families who have kind of put the cultural chaos aside and decided, hey, we're going to build our family based on God's word. And yes, we're gonna look a little funny. And yes, we're gonna sound a little funny. And yes, people may look at us a little odd, but you know what? We'll even consider that a witness to the culture.
So that when someone says, hey, why does your wife this? Or why does your husband that? Or why do your children this thing we say hey that actually comes from the Bible Have you ever heard of the God of the Bible and away we go into? You know, hopefully what is a sharing of the gospel and which may or may not bear fruit that we can see but it's certainly You know an obedience to the things that God has told us to do. So yeah, there's an awful lot of hope.
There's an awful lot of joy that comes from obeying scripture. The culture would cause us to think that these things are old and outdated and so forth, but hey, God is never outdated. And I'm glad he's not outdated. He's not outdated where he keeps my heart beating right now and blood flowing through my veins. In other words, He's still moving, even among His enemies.
There's common grace. They're alive because of the mercy of God. So yeah, let's just hold to God's Word.
