What do we do if we feel inadequate in our ability to lead times of family worship?

Kirk Smith explains in this video that while conducting family worship can be intimidating, it is important for parents to realize that they are not the end of all wisdom. They don't have to come up with a new way to parent their children. Rather, parents must point their children to Scripture.

Parenting is a great burden. Parents must cry out to God for help. He will be faithful if we turn to Him. Our weakness becomes a strength when we simply teach from the Word of God.

2 Corinthians 12:9 (NKJV) - "And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."

Family worship can sometimes intimidate a father or a mother. But what we must realize as parents, we are not the end of all wisdom. The Word of God is the end of all wisdom because it points our children to Jesus Christ and therein is the answer for all things of faith, life, and practice. And that takes such a burden off of us. We don't have to come up.

We have to reinvent the wheel. We have to point our kids to the wheel itself, or in this case, the wheel maker. Parenting is a great burden. Any parent who is worth their weight in salt, they understand they have eternal beings given to their stewardship. And that is the greatest sense of stewardship between God and man.

And that is a great burden. But our job is not to carry that burden for ourself, but rather to roll that burden onto the Lord and say, we can't do this on our own. We have got to have God's help. And here's the good news of the gospel. God is there to help us through this whole process.

He will be faithful as we turn to Him. So our weakness becomes our strength because He becomes our dependence. And that's the key to the family altar and family discipleship.
