How does kindness in the home impact the family?

Dr. Joel Beeke explains in this video that the lack of kindness in a family is a sin. In fact, it is an abomination in the sight of God. Kindness in the family is an important virtue.

A mother and father should set a pattern of kindness. Children should see that their parents love each other. Parents ought to model love and kindness to their children. A husband should strive to love his wife as Christ loved the Church. Children will be positively impacted by seeing that example within the home.

Ephesians 4:32 (NKJV) - "And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you."

The lack of kindness in a family where kindness should be predominant is a sin. It's an abomination in the sight of God. And so kindness is a very important virtue in the family where the mother is kind, the father is kind, and they set the pattern for the family and in their own relationship the children can see that dad and mom just love each other like crazy. And they see them hugging, they see them talking lovingly to each other. That sets the tone for the whole home.

And you know, fathers and mothers can fail in a lot of details in parenting. And still, the kids can turn out quite good if the kids grow up in a home where the love bond between the father and the mother is very strong and the husband-wife relationship is operating according to the Christ Church principle.
