What message does a godly marriage convey?

Jeff Pollard explains in this video that a husband and a wife should be speaking the glorious truths of Christ by the way they treat each other. When a man doesn't know what love truly means, he will not be a good husband. If the fruits of the Spirit are not present and growing in his life, he can't possibly love his wife in the way that he should.

The same is true for the wife. The Gospel transforms sinners so that their lives can be in harmony with God's Word. If a woman submerges her heart and soul in Scripture and learns what respect and biblical submission is, both spouses can glorify God. A godly marriage displays how the Gospel can transform a man and a woman.

Ephesians 5:25-27 (NKJV) - "Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish."

A husband and a wife together should be speaking the glorious truths of Christ and his gospel by the way they live together, by the way that they treat each other. When you find a man who doesn't know what love, joy, peace, long suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance means, then he's not gonna be a very good husband. If those fruits are not growing on the tree of his life, if he's not cultivating those things, he can't possibly love his wife the way he should. And it goes the other way. It's the same thing for a woman that's a Christian.

There should be those wonderful fruits of the Spirit growing within her. This is what the the gospel and the new birth produce in sinners. It transforms people so that their lives can be in harmony with God's Word. You take a woman who submerges her heart and soul if she marinates her heart in the Holy Scriptures and learns what respect is and learns what a biblical submission is. Submission is not weakness.

Biblical submission is strength. The Lord Jesus submitted himself to his Father. There was not an ounce of weakness in it. It was all strength. When a woman gives herself to learn that biblical submission at the feet of Christ, she will find herself stronger, not weaker.

And a man that learns how to lead according to the Word of God, who knows how to humble himself in the eyes of the Lord, and to serve his wife as Christ served his bride. Well then, you can get two people who can live under the same roof and glorify Jesus Christ and make a marriage that speaks to the world that the grace of God transforms men and women. You
