How can there be greater harmony between families of a church and its leaders?

Jason Dohm explains in this video that families of a church ought to work to be gracious with the leaders of that church. It is possible for leaders to overstep their boundaries, but with that said, a family should work to be a blessing to those in leadership positions.

In the same way, church leaders ought to be gracious and patient with the families in their church and aware of the challenges that families face. They ought to be a blessing to each other.

1 Thessalonians 5:12-13 (NKJV) - "And we urge you, brethren, to recognize those who labor among you, and are over you in the Lord and admonish you, and to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. Be at peace among yourselves."

Families should work hard to be really gracious with the churches that they're a part of, particularly the leaders of those churches. It is absolutely possible for the leaders of churches to overstep boundaries and move into areas that really belong under the authority of the family. That said, a family should work so hard to be a blessing, to be the greatest assets, the best members of the church, working really patiently with the leaders of the church. I would say the same thing to church leaders too. Church leaders should be so gracious with families, patient and aware of the types of challenges that families are facing.

So these two entities, the church and the family, should work hard to be a blessing to each other. That's how it's supposed to work. That's how God designed it to work, for the local church to be such a blessing and an asset to the family, and for families to be such a blessing and an asset to the local church. But you know what? We are sinners.

And so all parties have to just be mindful that we have to work for that result. That result doesn't just get handed to us on a silver platter. We have to mindfully work towards it.
