What is the centerpiece of your family's life?
Paul Thompson explains in this video that the Word of God needs to be the centerpiece of the family. In many families, that centerpiece is the television, recreation, or sports instead of Scripture.
Fathers and mothers must understand that Scripture is to be the center of the home. It needs to govern and instruct us. Scripture is to be a beaming lamp to illuminate a path for us. It is all sufficient for every part of life.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NKJV) - "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work."
Yeah, you know, the centrality of scripture in family life is a father and a mother, husband and wife, just simply need to understand that the very Word of God needs to be the centerpiece of the family. In many modern families the centerpiece is television. It's video. It's a computer. It's recreation.
It's sports. It's a hundred other things. But for the father and the mother in this temporal world to understand that this word of God needs to be the centerpiece, that everyone who resides in this home knows that the Bible rules everything we do. It governs us, it instructs us, it's not to be used as a club to beat us up, it's designed to be, as it describes itself, as a beaming lamp upon us to illuminate the path for us.
