What should parents focus on as they raise their children?

Kirk Smith explains in this video that one of the challenges of having a large family is that they can't be weary in doing good.

The hope that parents have in this process of child raising is that their children are part of the next generation. Their homes will crumble and their cars will eventually rust away. But, by the grace of God, their children will continue to live God-fearing lives and raise their own children to do the same.

Our passion must be to perpetuate a vision of God to the next generation. It is an energizing vision. It is something worth getting excited about. It is something that is worth giving our life to.

Psalm 127:4 (NKJV) - "Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one’s youth."

One of the challenges of having a large family, we have 11, is that we can't grow weary in doing well because each successive child is a new adventure, and we have to pour all that we have. But the hope that we have in that is, our children are all that we're leaving behind. It's all that matters. Our homes will eventually go away. Our cars will eventually rust.

So our energy, our passion must be to perpetuate the vision of God by the grace of God to that next generation. And when we have that vision, It's energizing. It's a big vision. It's something worth giving our life to. And when we do that, we can change the nations with the power of Jesus Christ.
