Should fathers lead their families in the study of God's Word?

Jeff Pollard shares in this video that there was a young couple in his congregation that was reluctant to get involved in family worship. They had never heard of it. Jeff explains that in one of his sermons, he explained that any man can and should lead his family in the reading and study of God's Word.

This young father came back to him a few weeks later and said that he led his family in family worship for the first time and now his children ask him every day if he will do family worship with them. God intends fathers to lead their families in the study of God's word.

Ephesians 6:4 (NKJV) - "And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord."

We had a young couple in our congregation that was very reluctant to get involved with family worship. They had never heard of it, and the husband was very shy about doing it. And in one of my messages I said, listen any father here can sit down, open up the Gospels and say this is the Word of God and the life of Jesus and I'm gonna read you a chapter every night and we're going to talk about Jesus' life." I said, anybody here can do that. Well, apparently the Lord really touched him with that. He came back to me a couple of weeks later and he said, you know when you said anybody can sit down and read a chapter from the scriptures and say this is the Word of God and encourage his children, ask them a few questions And he said, so I tried it, I figured I would trust the Lord and do that.

And he said, my children are asking me every day now when I come home, are we going to have family worship? They love it. And I said, of course, they should. I said, God intends for you to lead them, to lead them especially in the truths of God. You are reading to them, then you are discussing things with them.

You are paying attention to them with the most important thing with which you can instruct their hearts. You don't have to be a seminary graduate.
