What does it mean when Christ refers to Himself as "The Door"?

Rob Ventura explains in this video that when Jesus speaks of being "The Door," this refers to the fact that He is the only way of salvation. 

Christ is the only way. There is no other way to get to the Father except by Christ. You must enter through Christ. He is the one who opens God to us. He provides forgiveness and reconciliation with God. 

John 14:6 (NKJV) - "Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me."

So when Jesus speaks about being the door, I take it as him being the doorway, the passage, if you will, to salvation. I am the door. He that enters in by me shall be saved. And people in the world, you know, in some cases they're looking for the doorway to God as it were. What's the path I should go down?

Jesus Christ says, I am the door. He says, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to God but through me. So if you want to know how do you get to the Father, how do you get to the truth of God, how do you come to know God, you enter in by means of the doorway of Christ. He is the door.

He is the one who opens God to us. The forgiveness of sins, salvation and reconciliation with our Father in Heaven.
