How are Christians like sheep?

Pooyan Mershahi explains in this video that Christ is our good Shepherd. His sheep have been bought by His own blood. He has sheep that He protects and guides. 

When we think of Him being our Good Shepherd, we think about the sheep that He has. One characteristic of sheep is that they are very needy creatures. They are always in need. They cannot find their own food and must rely on the shepherd to guide them to food. 

They have no way to defend themselves from predators. They need a shepherd to protect them when they fall into danger. As sheep continually need a shepherd, so do Christians need Christ. 

John 10:11 (NKJV) - "I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep."

The Lord Jesus Christ says, I am the Good Shepherd. When the Lord speaks about him being that Good Shepherd, he is already implying that he has some sheep. He has the sheep that he has bought by his own precious blood. He has sheep that he keeps. He has sheep that he protects.

He has sheep that he guides. And so when we think about him being our good shepherd, it leads us to think about the sheep and the kind of sheep they are, his people. And so one of the things that we know of the characteristic of sheep is that they are very needy and dependable creatures. They are always in need. They cannot find food for themselves and therefore they need to be brought to the place of where they can have food, pasture.

They need protection. They cannot protect themselves. They don't even have horns to protect themselves against evil creatures and predators. If they become ill they cannot make themselves better. Therefore they need a shepherd.

When they fall into danger, they cannot bring themselves out of that danger. And so they are needy creatures, always needing that shepherd. And so does the Christian.
