What can we learn about Christ from His name?

Paul Thompson explains in this video that Isaiah states that Christ's name is Emmanuel - it means that God is with us. 

Christ is God and is present among us. That is the kindness of God that He would dwell among us and put Himself in such a position that we might interact with Him and know Him. 

Matthew 1:23 (NKJV) - "Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel, which is translated, 'God with us.'"

Isaiah gives us one of the most tender names. His name is Emmanuel. It represents that God is with us. So to use the name Jesus today as we would use from the New Testament as His proper name, if you will, the representative that Jesus is God and that He's present among us. That is a kindness of God that he would come and dwell among us and that he would put himself in such a position among us clothed in the flesh of men so that we might interact with him that we might observe him that we might know Him.

Jesus Himself says, if you know Me, you know the Father. You don't know something about the Father. He tells us you know the Father. And so for Jesus, the name of Jesus, and for the representation of what the Old Testament describes to us through Isaiah, this Emmanuel, this Jesus, this God with us.
