How is the deity of Christ maligned?

Rob Ventura explains in this video that the deity of Christ is maligned by both cults and also in the secular world. Christ is sometimes viewed as a weak man whose mission failed when He was crucified.

They fail to understand that He was God, He wasn't just a man. He forgave sin. In the world, the deity of Christ is not something they want to acknowledge. And yet, the glory of Christ is a glorious thing.

1 John 4:1-3 (NKJV) - "Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world."

Well, really two aspects. One of course you have among the cults. You've got the Jehovah Witnesses and the Mormons and all that. But then also in the world in secularism. Jesus is just viewed as some weak man who came and most likely in most people's minds his mission failed, he was crucified and all that.

But people don't understand the glory of Christ's person. Again, that this person wasn't just man, but he was the God-man. And Everyone, as it were, even his detractors knew it in his day and age. Who is this who forgives sins? I mean, who do you think you are?

Well, he thinks he's God because he is God. You know, he's walking on water, he's healing the sick, he's raising the dead. So again, in the world, sadly, The deity of Christ is not something that they realize or they want to acknowledge but it's a glorious thing and I remember as I was coming to the Lord God drawing me to himself and thinking about Jesus Christ when I came to see that he's the Son of God and God the Son I thought man whatever He says I must do. So as an unsaved guy that was something that God was revealing to me just by reading the Word of God. And then of course for all the false cults they have, as Paul says, another Jesus.

Because our Jesus, the Jesus of the Bible, is both God and man. It's on every page. It's all over the Old Testament and the New Testament. This is the eternal God. As the Old Testament prophet says in speaking about Christ, His goings are from everlasting because He is God.
