What is an example of a sinner's eyes being opened?

Pooyan Mershahi explains in this video how he became saved. He read that Christ said that He is the way, the truth, and the life. The Holy Spirit opened his eyes to realize that Christ was His only hope. 

He understood that there was nothing that he could do to save himself but it was only by Christ's mercy. He did not know it at the time, but he was at the end of myself and he knew that he must seek Christ. He realized that nothing would cleanse his sins except for the shed blood of Christ. 

Hebrews 9:22 (NKJV) - "And according to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission."

Therefore, as I came once again to the words of the Lord Jesus Christ, I am the way, the truth and the life. No man cometh unto the Father but by me. The Holy Spirit opened my eyes to see that Christ was the only way, He was my only hope, that before I ever knew Him He had died for me, and that I, and it is not by any works that I have done, but through his mercy that he saved me and I must come to him in faith and repentance. And that is what I did by his grace. This is how he drew me.

I did not know that he was drawing me, but I was so at the end of myself that I knew that I must seek him. Nothing else would forgive my sins but the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. You
