How is Christ our “Good Shepherd”?

Pooyan Mershahi explains in this video that Christ knows His sheep and that He knows them by name. He knows the number of the hairs on our head. 

He is not distant. Instead, He knows us personally. He died for us personally. That is another reason why He is the Good Shepherd of our souls. 

John 10:14-16 (NKJV) - "I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own. As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep. And other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they will hear My voice; and there will be one flock and one shepherd." 

The Lord Jesus Christ is not like an army commander looking at his army, looking at his soldiers, not knowing the names of them individually. But the Lord Jesus Christ says I know my sheep and I'm known of mine and they know me. He says that He knows us by name. He says that He knows the number of the hairs upon our head. And so we are not lost amongst the crowd of Christians worldwide.
