How is Christ described in the book of Hebrews?

John Latham explains in this video that in Hebrews, Jesus is described as being holy, harmless, and undefiled. Christ was set apart - He was to be the Messiah. 

The Old Testament priests were not holy or without sin, as the writer of Hebrews notes. But, Christ was the perfect priest. He was completely without sin, He was obedient to His Father, He was loving to his neighbor.

Hebrews 7:26 (NKJV) – “For such a High Priest was fitting for us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and has become higher than the heavens.” 

The writer of Hebrews says that Jesus was holy, harmless, and undefiled. By holy, it certainly means that He was set apart for His mission and work by God the Father to be the Messiah, to be that Melchizedek priest forever for the church. It also certainly means holy and undefiled. It teaches us that he was without sin. There that wonderful passage, the Lord is contrasting the ministry of the Lord Jesus with earthly priests.

They weren't holy in the sense of being sinless. They were defiled by their own sin, nor were they harmless. They didn't always perfectly love their neighbor, love their wives, love their children, yet Jesus as the Son of God was the perfect High Priest in that He never bruised, never broke that bruised reed. He never took that smoldering wick and snuffed it out. He was always obedient to his father, always loving his neighbor.

He was the perfect high priest so that he can then live to make intercession for us forever.
