How does Christ sanctify us?

John Latham explains in this video that Christ sanctifies sinners primarily through His Spirit. What Christ does is intercede for us. Through the Holy Spirit, Christ sanctifies His bride. He convicts us of sin and leads us to repentance. He sanctifies us through His Word. 

He brings conviction of areas where we have fallen short. He brings us hope and makes us more like Himself. He sanctifies us through His people. 

1 Corinthians 6:11 (NKJV) - "And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God."

Christ sanctifies sinners primarily through his spirit. The scriptures speak of the Holy Spirit as the Spirit of Christ and what Christ does is he intercedes for us the right hand of the Father. Scripture says the Holy Spirit too intercedes force and he is the sanctifier who comes, the the the paraclete, the comforter, the one who comes alongside, the one who guides into all truth, the one who purifies, that that blessed Holy Spirit comes and through Him Christ sanctifies His bride. He guides us into all truth. He convicts us of sin.

He leads us to repentance. He sanctifies through the Holy Spirit. He sanctifies by His Word. The Spirit of God takes the Word of God, brings it into our life and to show us God's holiness, His righteous law, His righteous requirements, His commandments by which we are to live and to act. He shows us what it means to love as He loves.

He brings His word and then He brings conviction where we fall short of that. We fall short of Him, of the walk in Christ we're supposed to walk. He brings His word into our lives and brings us conviction, brings us hope. He sanctifies us, He makes us more like Himself through the work of the Spirit, through the bringing of His word into our life. He also sanctifies us by His people.

What a glorious truth it is that we are part of a body, the body of Christ. And He uses that body in all its various parts, and not just the pastors and teachers, but every part He brings to encourage, to convict, to charge, to exhort, to comfort. He brings His Word to His people, through His people, that we might be corrected, that we might be encouraged, that we might not give up, that we might long for Jesus, that we might look to Jesus. Through these things, the Son of God sanctifies and prepares his people for that great day when he returns for us.
