What is the effect of the resurrection of Christ?
John Latham explains in this video that the resurrection has had a tremendous impact on his family.
He shares that one of his sons almost died in a car accident. For days, they didn’t know whether he would live or die but they knew that whatever happened, everything would be okay because of the resurrection. As God raised Christ from the dead, all those who have faith in Him are also given that resurrected life.
No matter what happened, the truth of the resurrection gave his family an unshakeable hope in eternity.
1 Peter 1:3 (NKJV) – “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.”
The effects of the resurrection and ascension has had tremendous effects on my family. Certainly above all that by faith in Christ that He is the Son of God, that proven by His resurrection and ascension that we've been saved from our sins. We've been delivered from the domain of darkness and transferred to the kingdom of the beloved Son. In particular, one specific area where it's covered us greatly is I have a son that when he was 19 was almost killed in a car accident. We spent five days in the ICU with him in a medically induced coma and he had brain damage and they told us if his brain swelled there was nothing they could do and he would die.
We didn't know for days whether he would live or die. And yet we lived with hope that whatever happened that ultimately things would be okay because of the resurrection. Because the fact that God raised Christ from the dead and all those who have faith in Him too were given that resurrected life, that hope of eternity, and that whatever happened to our son, that our Savior was ascended there at the right hand of the Father, interceding for us, pleading for us, working for us, comforting us, aiding us. And so the hope of the resurrection has given our family, my family comfort during a very difficult time where life and death were at stake and where the end result was uncertain. And even today he is alive and yet still deals with a serious illness that could very well take his life.
And so we live daily with that hope undergirding us that whatever happens in his life or in my life or in the lives of those we love and care about, that this life is just temporary and yet there is life to come. And the truth of the resurrection and the ascension of Jesus Christ gives us that unshakable hope in eternity. Thank you.
