How is Christ our Mediator?

John Snyder explains in this video that Christ is our priest – He has built a bridge between us and God. In other words, He is our Mediator. He offered Himself as a sacrifice and removed the offense of our sin.

He suffered the full wrath of God that we deserved. The Father is then able to reach us with His extraordinary love. Our sin was imputed to Christ. He became the sin bearer. His righteousness is placed on the believer.

1 Timothy 2:5-7 (NKJV) – “For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time, for which I was appointed a preacher and an apostle—I am speaking the truth in Christ and not lying—a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.”

The great realities of God for humanity were out of reach, but God comes to us in the person of His Son, and His Son becomes the prophet who brings out from the depths of that divine well, the truths of the Father. Christ is also our priest, that is, He is the one who has built a bridge between us and God, a mediator, a representative. He comes and He offers Himself as a sacrifice and in so doing He removes the offense of our sin between us and our God. He reconciles. He reconciles God to us by propitiation.

He suffers the full wrath of God due to us and in so doing that is removed and the Father is able then to reach us with his extraordinary love. But he also reconciles us to God. And on the cross if we think of what was going on there was a great divine transaction. We use a word imputation. Our sin was imputed or placed on the account of Christ.

He becomes the sin bearer. And His righteousness then is placed upon the believer. It's imputed to us. Christ must also be our King. We are a rebellious people by nature.
