What are characteristics of sheep in Scripture?

Pooyan Mershahi explains in this video that one characteristic of sheep is that they are simple and naive creatures. While they do know how to get lost they cannot help themselves get back. They follow one another even if the other sheep are walking towards danger.

Just as they need the protection and care of the Good Shepherd so do Christians. They, like sheep, are naturally inclined towards sin and wrongdoing. Therefore, they need the Good Shepherd.

Isaiah 53:6 (NKJV) - "All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all." 

Another characteristic of the sheep is that they are very simple creatures, naive creatures. They do not know how to find the right path. What they do know is how to get lost but then they cannot find their way back. They are very simple creatures, naive creatures. They follow one another.

If one follows to some dangerous path, the rest also follow. And so they are simple and naive creatures. They need that protection and care of the good shepherd and so does the Christian. Another characteristic of the sheep is that it is bent to go wrong. The prophet Isaiah says that all we like sheep have gone astray.

And so the sheep is bent towards finding all kinds of wrong paths, but not the right one. And therefore it needs the Good Shepherd to find the right path. And Christ leads us to the right path of salvation through Him. You
