Kevin Swanson explains in this video that many churches have tried to attract individuals by not presenting a God-centered approach. You shouldn't go to church to get something out of it. Unfortunately, for many churches today, attending church has become a self-centered experience.

Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV) - "For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."

Well, the church has presented all of the programs, all of the fun things, all of the things that are supposed to keep people entertained. The church has presented itself as something that must sell to the market. The church does not demand repentance, doesn't demand anything of them. The church doesn't present a God-centered approach. The reason you're coming to church is not to get anything fundamentally out of the church.

It's to give the worship to the true and living God, the worship he deserves. And so as you walk away from the church service, we're not to say, well, how was it for you? How was it for me? What you say is, how was it for God? That's the way you look at church.

Church has become a self-centered, narcissistic experience that is marketed not unlike the way we market our fast food restaurants and people have moved from church to church as if they're finding something that's better for them. Well that again fits into the self-centered approach of the present generation. You
