How should the fact that Christ is returning again impact us and our families?

John Latham explains in this video that the truth of the Second Coming ought to have an effect on our families. We are told to be ready for His return. There ought to be an examination of ourselves to see whether we are in the faith.

We should be ready and working until he comes. We should strive to be good and faithful servants of Christ. The Church ought to be awaiting the return of our Bridegroom. While we joyfully wait for Christ's return, we should be faithfully serving God.  

Matthew 24:43-44 (NKJV) – “But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.” 

The truth of the second coming of the Son of God ought to have an effect on our families and churches, dramatic effect. Certainly by the teaching of scripture over and again when the second coming is mentioned by Jesus himself and his apostles, what we're told is, is number one, to be ready for it. There ought to be a sense in each of us of examination, of making sure as Peter exhorts us and Paul exhorts us to examine ourselves, are we in the faith? We don't want to be one of those virgins that gets left out of the banquet. We want to be ready when our bridegroom returns that we are walking by faith in Him.

We are prepared in that we have received Him as our Savior through faith in Him. So being ready for that and then being working. You know, we're to be ready, we're to be working until he comes, let the master find you working when he returns, you know, that poor slave who the master finds not working will be punished for that. And yet we wanna be good and faithful servants of the Lord Jesus And so as Christian families, we want to be working until He comes. Not just wistfully staring off in the distance wondering is this sign or that sign or is He coming, but to be busy working, serving, loving, Telling people the good news of Jesus Christ, loving one another, serving in the church.

And again, his families and his churches, again, that ought to affect us greatly. The knowledge that our bridegroom is returning. There ought to be a joyful longing, just as any good godly bride ought to long for the day of her wedding so the church ought to be longing and lovingly waiting for the return of our of our bridegroom and yet working working till he returns serving him faithfully being faithful unto him and Paul warns the church at court he's concerned for them that they having betrothed them to to Christ that they would wander off after some other god, some other person, some other idol. Again, the church with the knowledge that the Son of God is returning for us, for his bride, it ought to encourage us to be faithful to him, to faithfully wait, to faithfully work and serve him. You
