Why do churches ignore important reforms?

Curt Daniels explains in this video that sometimes, churches will ignore important reforms because they are afraid to lose their congregations.

We need pastors who will courageously do what God’s Word requires even if it means that their congregation will be smaller, their pay will be decreased, or that they will face dismissal. All throughout Scripture there are numerous examples of men and women who refused to compromise the Word of God and decided to uphold what God's Word says. 

Acts 5:29 (NKJV) – “But Peter and the other apostles answered and said: “We ought to obey God rather than men.”

I think some of them are scared. They're going to lose certain members. Recently, someone was telling me that a new pastor came their way two or three years ago and started instituting reform and about a third of the church left. I've heard that story over and over again across America and I commend the pastors that take that step by saying we must do it God's way even if it means lower attendance. Some pastors are not brave enough to do that.

Sometimes they say in certain denominational structures, I will lose my pension to some denominations. We'll take it away if you do not succeed and then you're dismissed or disciplined by the nomination.
