What is needed to bring about a reformation of a person's thoughts?

Rob Ventura explains in this video that to bring about a reformation of thinking, people’s minds need to be rooted in Scripture. They will say, as Isaiah did: "To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them" (Isaiah 8:20, NKJV).  

People whose thoughts are reforming are convinced of the sufficiency of Scripture, that it answers everything for life and godliness. They will have their finger in Scripture and continually be asking what God has said. They will not rely on culture or what they feel for answers. 

Acts 17:10-11 (NKJV) – “Then the brethren immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea. When they arrived, they went into the synagogue of the Jews. These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so.”

So if there was a reformation of thinking, what you're going to have is people whose minds are tethered to Holy Scripture. They're going to say with Isaiah of old, to the law and to the testimony, if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them. And again, we go back to some of the great things of the Reformation, certainly repentance for a gospel, a connection with the gospel, but the Scriptures, the Scriptures, and people who are thinking Reformationally are convinced of the sufficiency of the Bible and that the Bible answers the questions that we need, as our own Confession of Faith says, for life and godliness. So people who are thinking Reformationally are not, you know, with their finger in the air, what's new, what's cool, what can we do? No, it's their finger in the book, and they're saying, what has God said?
