What does reformation look like in a church today?

Dennis Gunderson explains in this video that churches need to be serious about identifying areas in church life where they've been negligent or unfaithful to the Word of God. It takes honesty and close examination of church practices, policy, leadership, direction, and history. 

Elders must ask themselves what realm of church life have they failed in and where they need to make immediate changes. Leaders must understand that it is going to take time to make changes but they still need to resolve that it will take place.

Galatians 6:3-5 (NKJV) – “For if anyone thinks himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself. But let each one examine his own work, and then he will have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another. For each one shall bear his own load.”

What does Reformation look like in a church or what more personally should it look like today? Churches need to be serious about identifying areas in their own congregational life where they've been negligent, where they've been unfaithful to the Word, and that takes close self-examination. That takes honesty in looking at our church practice, our policy, our leadership, our direction, our history, and where have we just simply, despite our strengths, despite patting ourselves on the back for the areas that we've done well, what realms of church life have we failed in, and where do we need to make immediate change. Leaders, while being patient with people and recognizing that turning a congregation around is often like turning a great ship on the sea and that it's going to take a while at times to complete that turn, yet nonetheless need to be thoroughly resolved that it's going to take place.
