What is needed to reform an entire nation?

Paul Carrington explains in this video that according to 2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV) God will forgive a nation if they “will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways." If a nation does that, God "will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

If we want our land healed and our sins forgiven, we must pray, seek His face, and turn from our wickedness. We can’t receive the benefits of salvation without repentance and a turning from sin. Instead, we must have humble hearts that desire Him.

1 John 1:9 (NKJV) – “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

To make a nation great, I think you can also find that in 2 Chronicles. And this is one of the most amazing, most timeless statements I think you can find in Scripture as it pertains to a nation and it says, if my people which are called by my name shall humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways and then, you notice that word then, I will hear from heaven and I will forgive their sins and I will heal their land. We want our land healed and we want our sins forgiven without the first part of humbling ourselves and praying and seeking his face and most importantly turning from our wicked ways. We want the benefits of salvation and the benefits of the goodness of God often without the turning to God and so we need to really recognize that there is a precursor to the blessings of God, and that is that we have hearts, desires of being humble before Him.
