What is one area of our lives that many of us need to repent of?

Mike Davenport explains in this video that one of the sad things that we see today is that many individuals are pursuing the world and things of the world. He shares how he heard that one man said that, “He looked for the church and found it in the world, and looked for the world and found it in the church.”

Have we bought into this idea as a family and as a church? We must make sure that we are following God’s ways and that our focus is on God and His righteousness. We need to repent and pray that God’s will would be done. We need reformation no matter where we are at.

Luke 12:33-34 (NKJV) – “Sell what you have and give alms; provide yourselves money bags which do not grow old, a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches nor moth destroys. 34 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

One of the sad things we see in today's evangelical world, especially here in the United States, is what is the American dream? It's following that American dream. And that passion has worked its way into the church. One man has said, I looked for the church and found it in the world. And I looked for the world and I found it in the church.

And we need to ask ourselves, have we bought into this as families? And to that effect, have we bought into it as a church? And we need to make sure that we're following God's ways. And what does that look like? Well, Christ told us in Matthew 6, seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all of these other things that you worry about or that you desire so greatly.

If God wills that you have them, He will give those to you. But our focus needs to be on the kingdom of God and on His righteousness. And to the point that we are not following first His kingdom and His righteousness. We need to repent. We need to bring our lives back into line with what God wants and what His desire is for His Kingdom.

And that needs to be our desire. That's also part of the Lord's Prayer. When Jesus' disciples said, Lord, teach us to pray, What were they to pray? Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth just as it's done in heaven.

And none of us as families, none of us as churches, are doing that perfectly. And so we need reformation. To what extent it will look different in different families, in different churches, in different families within that one church. But what it will look like is men, women, and their children. What it will look like is a congregation that says, Lord, we desire that your will would be done here on earth, not just out there, but in our church, in our homes, that your will will be done just here like it is in heaven.
