How do we raise godly children in today's culture?

Ken Ham explains in this video that he believes that we are on the precipice of catastrophic change. Two-thirds of young people have already left the church and those who are within the church are often very secularized.

Many parents have failed to raise their children in accordance with Scripture and now they’re looking at their children and grandchildren and wonder what happened when they see them walking in the way of the world. They need to get on their knees and repent.

Many church leaders also need to repent because they haven’t taught the parents how to lead and teach their children. So many of them have compromised God’s Word and have not instructed and taught from Scripture. We all must have a heart to raise godly generations.

Deuteronomy 6:6-7 (NKJV) – “And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. 7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.”

I believe we're on the precipice of catastrophic change because we're seeing two-thirds of young people who have already left the church, those that are in our church, they're so secularised. We are on the brink of catastrophic change right now, the secularisation of our culture, because parents did not raise up godly generations as they should have. And now they're looking at their grandkids in many instances, their kids, why don't they go to church, why are they so secular in their thinking? Basically, we abdicated our responsibility, handed it over to the world, you teach them whatever you want, We'll send them to Sunday School and teach them a few Bible stories. And now we're losing the culture and we're losing these generations.

So parents need to get on their knees and repent before a holy God. And then they need to do the best they can to start dealing with the issues that have undermined the authority of God's word in the hearts and minds of their children and their grandchildren. And we need to do a whole turnaround here. Churches need to stop this nonsense of increasing entertainment and shallow teaching and church leaders need to repent too that they haven't helped the parents in raising up generations to deal with the issues of today. In fact we read over and over again scripture how the shepherds lead the sheep astray and there's an incredible responsibility for any of the teachers.

You know James 3 teaches very clearly, you know be not many masters you will bear a streak to condemnation and they have a great responsibility they're going to answer to before the Lord as they have shepherded the sheep and yet so many of them have compromised God's word, not dealt with the issues where they should have, not helped instruct parents to be able to bring up their children. In many instances I think they're more interested in big buildings and running church like a business rather than a hut for how do we help raise up godly generations. And that's really where it all starts.
