How will living in accordance with Scripture affect our lives?
Rob Ventura explains in this video that when we talk about reformation, we are talking about putting our lives back in alignment to Scripture. The Reformation was all about going back to the Bible. Looking to Scripture for guidance will affect all aspects of life. Following the commands of Scripture will change what people do and what people don’t do.
A truly changed life flows out of a regenerated heart. It is not just the changing of one’s external actions. Our desires drastically change after we are saved. The things we listen to, the people we are friends with … these all change once we are saved.
2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV) – “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
Yeah, so Reformation, again, when we talk about reforming, we're talking about putting our lives back in line with Scripture. So we're going back to the truths, again, of the Reformation, but as those truths are found most importantly in the Bible, Reformation was, you know, the great slogan, we say, back to the Bible. So for an individual, it'll affect how he looks, you know, what he thinks about, how he lives, where he goes, where he doesn't go, where she goes, how she dresses, how she doesn't dress, what she listens to, what she doesn't listen to. Reformation in the life coming out of a regenerated heart, not just externalism. Right?
We talk about reformation, we're just going to say, well, I'm going to start dressing this way and speaking this way. Oh, that's not what we're talking about. A biblical reformation begins with regeneration, which issues in repentance and faith in Christ. And then reformation follows if it's all a biblical sort. And for the individual there are all these changes.
You know, when you got saved people said, you know, what's going on with you? You probably said that to yourself. What's going on? I used to hate the things of God. No, I love the things of God.
Singing hymns, I used to sing whatever type of music it was. Headbanging rock and roll or whatever it was. But now I love to praise God. And now I love to sing His word and to pray to Him and all of those things and read His word. You say, how did that happen?
Regeneration? So there's reformation. Those friends I used to hang out with? It's not that I just can't do that. I don't want to do that anymore.
Why? Because Psalm 1 blesses the man who walks not in the path of the ungodly. You
