How does reformation begin in the family?
Rob Ventura explains in this video that once God starts getting a hold of the father and the mother and they realize what Scripture states about family life, a family begins to be reformed. They realize that Scripture is to be their guide for all of life.
A father begins to lead his family in accordance with Scripture. A wife realizes how she is to submit to her husband. Children understand that they are to obey their parents. There is reformation in the life of the individual, within the marriage of the husband and wife, and in the home.
2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV) – “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
God starts getting hold of the father and the mother and they say, wow, God's Word actually says something to us about how I ought to love you as Christ loved the church and gave himself for her. How she ought to love her husband, how she ought to submit to him, how the children ought to be gathered around as olive plants and obeying their parents for this is right. Ephesians 6, family worship, that's gonna be a big area of Reformation. Fathers leading in family worship saying with Joshua of old as for me and my household we will, this is not a choice, we will worship the Lord. God could save Abraham.
I know Abraham that he will command his family after me. So there's reformation in the life of the individual, a life of the spouse, there's reformation in the home, and now again the gospel starts shining out beautifully.
