What does national repentance look like?

Sam Waldron explains in this video that to explain what national repentance would look like, he would take people to the book of Jonah and see what Nineveh did. They genuinely repented of their sin. They recognized the evilness of their sin. They humbled themselves because of their sin. They sought after the things of God. 

Revelations 2:5 (NKJV) – “Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place—unless you repent.” 

May God grant us national repentance. I think if I was going to explain what repentance in a nation looks like, I would take people to the Old Testament book of the prophet Jonah and look at what Nineveh did, which, however you evaluate it, certainly had some elements, at least, of genuine repentance, a humbling themselves on their sense of their sins and what their sins deserve, the recognition of the evil of their sins, and seeking in response to, in response to Jonah's prophecy of a kind of divine national forgiveness.
